Position Title: Substitute Childcare Lead Teacher

Qualifications/Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At Least One of the Following is REQUIRED:
- 5 Sessions of 2.5 hours of observation in licensed preschool or center AND 1 year experience in licensed center or preschool or 1 year of practicum
- Child Development Associate Credential (CDA)
- 7-9 semester hours of college credit in early childhood AND 3 months teaching experience in licensed center or preschool or 1 year practicum
Essential Functions:
- Ensure that children are safe and that their everyday needs are met – this may include diapering, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Engage in positive interaction with children to build confidence and self-esteem.
- Ensure children are kept active, entertained, and engaged in developmental activities.
- Effectively discipline children who are misbehaving.
- Model and encourage good social skills, e.g. strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
- Monitor and report developmental or safety concerns.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
- Constant bending, twisting, lifting, pushing, and pulling
- Constantly alternating between sitting and standing
- Normally does not lift objects weighing more than 50lbs
Terms of Employment: Classified Personnel position, 12-month contract, 40-hour work week. Does not require a teaching or administrative certificate. Salary to be determined by Board of Education. Pay starting at $14.10/hour.
